How To Apply?
** Secure the CGAF from either at the Public Information and Assistance Unit (PIAU) at BI G/F Main Office or from the official BI Website.
** Submit the documents for pre-screening to the Central Receiving Unit (CRU) or to the frontline officer or staff of other Immigration Offices able to process this transaction.
** Get the Order of Payment Slip (OPS).
** Pay the required fees.
** Submit copy of Official Receipt.
** Please refer to the Official Receipt for the schedule and venue of the hearing and Image and Fingerprint Capturing.
** In case of extension application, the biometric data previously captured during the visa conversion shall be used in the printing of the renewed ACR I-Card.
** However, applicants aged ten (10) years and below shall have their image and fingerprint captured every extension of visa.
** Applicants aged eleven (11) years and above shall have their image and fingerprint captured every after five (5) years.
** Proceed to Image and Fingerprint Capturing Counter of the Alien Registration Division (ARD) and submit requirements for ACR I-Card application
** If approved, claim the SSP and ACR I-Card.

About Bureau of Immigration:
The Bureau of Immigration started as a division of the Bureau of Customs during the American regime in 1899. This was pursuant to Act No. 702 of the Philippine Commission. It was appropriate because ship travel and ship cargo were interlinked and hence, the office was at the Bureau of Customs.
It seems that the government then, gave more importance on the entry of goods than monitoring of foreign nationals coming into the country. The government was more interested in generating customs duties from these goods than in the control and regulation of the arrival and stay of foreigners. The functions of immigration remained under the said bureau until 1937 when it was transferred as a division of the Bureau of Labor.
